THE TARSHISH VOYAGE (Part 2)

 Text: Jonah 2

Where are you?

Have you been smitten by your conscience for a wrong doing? Has this question sprung up within you?  Did you give it a second thought? God sure knows where we are. He is omniscient! However, this query is meant to bring us to the point of realization, self assessment, sober reflection and repentance. He wants us to call upon him, from where we are - just the way we are. He alone can help us out of our mess.

"Where could I go to escape from you? Where could I get away from your presence?"

Psalm 139:7 (GNT)

The fish's belly represents a place of trouble, darkness, pain, discomfort, uncertainty, confusion and hopelessness. To go our own way, is to end up groping in the dark. Thank God for his mercies. We can choose to make a fresh start.

The way out is to:

• Cry out for help (Jonah 2:2)

         A broken and contrite heart, the Lord will not despise. He listens!

• Acknowledge God's love (Jonah 2:6,7)

         Through the difficult times, he preserves. The purpose is to make us see that we are better off with him.

•  Resolve to do his bidding (Jonah 2:9)

          God is merciful. His arms are outstretched, willing to save. He doesn't want us lost.

•  Walk into freedom (Jonah 2:10)

         Yes! All of creation hearkens to his command. Whom the Lord sets free, is free indeed.  

Act now!

Prayer: Dear Lord, have mercy on me and pardon my sins.
