THE TARSHISH VOYAGE (Part 1)

 Text: Jonah 1

As God's children, sometimes even when we know what God says about a particular task or matter, we struggle to implement it or completely go against it. This reveals our lack of love and trust, and is a clear manifestation of self governance. It is going the "Tarshish" way. 

The choice of Tarshish represents self will, human wisdom, or rebellion.

Why not Tarshish?                                                                                                                                            

• It's not the place of the task/appointment. (Jonah 1:2)
• It's farther away - it causes physical and emotional tiredness. (Jonah 1:3, ERV)
• Time and resources are wasted. (Jonah 1:3,5,17)
• We neglect God's provision for self sustenance. (Jonah 1:3, AMPC)
• We are endangered. (Jonah 1:4)
• We put those around us at risk. (Jonah 1:5)
• We become guilty of sin. (Jonah 1:12)
• It is a futile effort. We lose. (Jonah 1:17)

It is wise to make a U-turn (repent) than to keep progressing in the wrong direction. 

Act now!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me walk in your way.
